Task 1
Your foreign friend is considering coming to your country to visit, but he/she doesn’t know how to plan the trip. What suggestion do you give him/ her?

Sample answer:

If my foreign friend is coming to my country to visit, the first suggestion I will give him is to learn some common phrases of my language, which can help him get around more easily. After that, he needs to decide where he wants to go, like which city and tourist attraction he is interested in. Since my country is a very big one with a large population, which includes 56 ethnic groups, he can choose to experience a specific culture and unique landscape before he takes off. What’s more, he also needs to decide the length of the trip and research his costs. These two factors play determinate role in how he can carry out the trip.

Task 2

A big cooperation is planning to invest in a factory in your hometown. This factory will create many job opportunities for people, but also bring a lot of pollution at the same time. Do you agree or disagree?

Sample answer:

I don’t think it’s a good idea for building a big factory in my hometown.

Although it can create many job opportunities in a short term, it will severely pollute my hometown in the long run, which may take decades to clean off.  If the air and water is polluted, the health condition of local residents will surely be negatively affected, which is not worth it.

What’s more, my hometown can introduce other industries which produce less or little pollution, like service industry. Even if we cannot attract big co operations to invest, we can always promote the development of local industries and enterprises, which benefit us both economically and environmentally.
