Which one do you think is the most important factor for a student to success at college or university?
1. Tutors in university.
2. The encouragement from family and friends.
3. High-quality education from high school.
参考范文:
College education has always been people’s highly concerned topic in our society. The decisive factor which could determine students’ success in university is still a puzzle among us. Some individuals consider the support from friends and parents as the most significant element, while others regard outstanding tutors as the vital one. Nevertheless, from my own perspective, receiving excellent education in senior school should rank as the top one. My view point is based on the following reasons and details.
On the one hand, good studying habits formed in high school would play an important role through students’ college years. Learning methods with great efficiency and effectiveness will benefit juveniles for a long time, casting a positive and profound influence on the rest of their lifetime, let alone their college years. For example, an effective method of taking notes formed in kids’ high school years can still be helpful in his college time. The student who always gets full GPA in our class has a well-organized note-taking system containing a set of symbols and patterns. During lectures, it is easy for him to take down what the professor wants to convey to us and represent that information in the form of a mind map, which is quite convenient for him to review and remember after class. In contrast, the notes taken by me looks like a mess—during the class, I usually just write down the words lecturer said without any organization. Therefore, it will cost me lots of time to collate the stuff I scribbled on paper before exams. If I had also developed efficient noting habits in my senior high school tears, it would be advantageous for my college study.
On the other hand, knowledge got from high school can serve as a solid basis for courses in universities. Young people who have adequate academic accumulation will certainly be more competitive than their peers in college. For instance, I once heard my uncle, a financial professor in a local university, talking about the students choosing his accounting course. During their first semester, it was common for those pupils to be divided into two groups. Students with a profound mathematical basis set up during their high school years would always perform well in the final, while others who had difficulty in understanding math rules might continue being trapped in tough situation in complicated accounting study. My uncle explained to me that a good accountant should first occupy outstanding calculating capacity, for students’ math level would directly influence their ability to grasp professional accounting knowledge. Obviously, the young previously received a higher-quality fundamental education may have much more chance to be successful in their college major.
To conclude, compared with tutors’ academic level and warm relationship with surrounding people, I suppose that rightful behaving patterns acquired during high-school years is actually the most fundamental factor. During this period, children can learn to form favorable studying habits as well as skillfully obtain knowledge of certain basic subjects, thus will lead to their future success in college.
